The application simply links up your Twitter and PayPal accounts to Chirpify, allowing you to send $5 to anyone on Twitter, based on their @ username. Once signed up with Chirpify, a user enters the screen name of another Twitter user and the app credits $5 to their PayPal account. You can also send a message along with the $5, like the reason for the gift or suggest a time to meet up to share a real beer in person, and it will appear in the tweet. You can beer a buddy on the Internet "to ensure that distance, agoraphobia and gang rivalries no longer prevent you from sharing a pint." Chirpify takes a 10-cent fee from the recipient's account to cover the transaction.
Technically you don't have to use the $5 for a beer. It can be used on anything that has the PayPal account. However, the idea is clever!
