Social networking includes facebook, twitter, and Linkedin in this survey.
According to a survey that polled more than 800 U.S.-based human resources and recruitment professionals on their social recruiting activities called the Social Recruiting survey:
- 89% will use social networks for recruiting (which is a 6% increase from the previous year)
- 82% of those seeking a job use social networking in the United States
- 14.4 million people have used social networking to find their latest job
- LinkedIn is the most popular way for companies to recruit (followed by twitter)
I found these statistics to be fascinating as an undergraduate advertising major. I find myself signing on LinkedIn frequently, and especially looking at a link on the side of the page that provides the last few people to look at my profile in the past month. Although I find that most are my friends/classmates, there are always a few that are recruiters. LinkedIn is a great way to connect with potential companies that you may be interested in.
